Srinagar, Dec 03 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Wednesday issued a consolidated set of instructions for sanctioning ex-gratia relief under Security Related Expenditure (SRE) for persons affected by law-and-order disturbances.
According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the General Administration Department has issued an order in this regard after taking the approval from Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
As per the order, the revised structure covers magistrates, police personnel, paramilitary forces, government employees, civilians and others.
For magistrates and police personnel, including SPOs, the relief has been fixed at Rs 2 lakh and 5 lakh respectively. In case of a death of ex-serviceman Rs 2 lakh will be given to NOKs.
Permanent disability will receive Rs 0.75 lakh and partial disability 0.10 lakh.
For Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Rs 5 lakh is sanctioned for non-domicile personnel killed in J&K.
Domicile personnel dying within the UT and those dying outside the UT will receive 25 lakh. Permanent disability has been fixed at 0.75 lakh and partial disability at 0.10 lakh.
Under the category of government employees other than police personnel, ex-gratia for death has been fixed at 1 lakh, permanent disability 0.75 lakh, serious injury requiring hospitalization beyond 24 hours 0.05 lakh, hospitalization less than 24 hours 0.01 lakh, and minor injury discharged after first aid 500.
For persons other than government employees, 1 lakh has been earmarked for death of civilians, those killed on the IB/LoC, surrendered militants and militants turned informers.
Permanent disability will receive 0.75 lakh. Serious injury with hospital stay beyond 24 hours attracts 0.05 lakh, hospitalization less than 24 hours 0.01 lakh, and minor injury 500.
For defence forces personnel, Rs 5 lakh will be paid for death of non-domiciles. Domicile personnel dying within the UT are eligible for 25 lakh, while those dying outside the UT will receive Rs 5 lakh.
The order also specifies compensation for damage to immovable property due to bomb blast or sabotage — 50% of loss or 1 lakh, whichever is lower.
In cases of actual loss up to Rs 10 lakh, Rs 7 lakh will be given for immovable property and Rs 3 lakh for movable property. Damage on IB/LoC due to shelling or firing will be compensated at 50% of the loss or Rs 1 lakh, whichever is less—(KNO)
